Mountain Bike Gears Explained

Mountain bike gears are continually becoming more and more complicated and intricate. Today’s bikes can come with up to 27 gear ratios. It is common for a mountain bike today to use nine gears in the back and three sprockets of different sizes in the front for gear ration production.





Why so many gears? The most common reason is that a large number of gears allow a rider to pedal at the same pace no matter what terrain that he/she is on. This can be understood better if you think about a bike that just has one gear. Every time you turn the pedals one full turn, then the rear wheel also turns one full turn, too (1:1 gear ratio).


Bikes


For example, your back wheel is measured at 26 inches. If you pedal one full turn, then this would mean that your wheel moved 81.6 inches. If you are riding at 50 RPM, then you will be able to go 340 feet per minute. This means that you were going 3.8MPH, which is equivalent to walking speed. This speed is great for going up a hill that is steep, but it is not a good speed for flat ground or racing downhill.


If you want your bike to go quicker, then you will need a different ratio. If you want to reach a speed of 25 MPH downhill using a 50-RPM cadence, then you will need to have a 5.6:1 gear ration. If you have lots of gears on your bike, then you will be able to get that ratio so that you can continue your pedaling at a consistent pace, no matter what terrain you are on or what your speed is.

A typical mountain bike that has 27 gears will have six gears so incrementally close to the other that you will not be able to determine that there is any difference between the gears when you change them.

Most mountain bike riders decide to choose a gear system with a front socket that is suitable for the slope or terrain that they usually ride on and they stay with this choice, even though it may be more difficult under a heavy load to shift the gears. This is purely a personal decision, but it is simpler to shift between gears when the rear socket, rather than the front one.

When you are pedaling uphill, then you will find that it is much better to choose a sprocket that is smaller on the front and then shift gears with the nine gears that are available on the rear. If you are more speeds on the rear sprocket, then you will find that it is much more efficient to ride.

Mountain biking needs gears so that you can keep an overall speed going. If you didn’t have gears, then you would find it difficult to build up any speed and you would find it nearly impossible to pound your pedals for extra control. Gears help to move the pedals and enable you to gain that speed.

MONUMENTS





Monuments are the structures which are either created explicitly to commemorate a person or an event or which are made in previous time and has become important to remember the late people or past events. But some monuments are so whimsical and precious that they become the brightly shining star from the vast universe of beautiful structures. They are showcased as the world heritage site.

It is a saga but a very practical truth of today. These valuable gems of our country are getting endangered and if serious and bold steps are not taken for their revival, the country will be like a bride without jewelry. Though India is the treasure of temples, monuments and ancient amazing pieces of art and beauty, I'll limelight some famous monuments marked as world heritage site.


- QUTUB MINAR- in Delhi built by Qutbuddin Aybak in 1193;

- RED FORT- in Delhi built by Shah Jahan in 1639;

- HUMAYUN'S TOMB - in Delhi built in 1570; these three are among the world heritage sites.

The other famous monuments in Delhi are:

- 22ft TALL IRON PILLAR-in the year AD 375-415;

- JAMA MASJID-India's largest mosque built in 1655;

- PURANA QILA, JANTAR MANTAR and INDIA GATE.

Some other world heritage sites in India are:

- TAJ MAHAL-a tomb in Agra built by Shah Jahan in 1631 for his wife Mumtaz Mahal;

- FATEHPUR SIKRI-a magnificent red sandstone city in Sikri near Agra built by Mughal emperor Akbar.

- AJANTA & ELLORA CAVES-present in Maharashtra these caves were built near about 6th century. The caves depict the Buddhist and the Jataka tales.

- ELEPHANTA CAVES-present in Maharashtra these caves were also built near 6th and the 7th century has a 6-m high bust of lord Shiva.

- SONAR QILA-a fort in Rajasthan was built by Rawal Jaiswal in 1156.

- CHARMINAR-it is a square shaped monument built in Andhra Pradesh in 1591.

- SANCHI STUPAS-they are one of the oldest Stupas in Bhopal.

- BHIMBETKA-in Madhya Pradesh they are the rock shelters discovered in 1957. They have many different paintings.

- BASILICA OF BOM JESUS-present in old Goa it holds the tomb of St. Francis Xavier.

- HAMPI-present in Karnataka has many beautiful temples.

- MAMALLAPURAM-it is a group of rock-cut monuments built near 7th and 8th century in Tamil Nadu.

Monuments are getting spoiled: there is not one but many ways in which the valuable and literally non-renewable structures created originally by ancient artists of different dynasties are getting ruined.

The chemicals are released and merged in the air through motor vehicles, coal-fired power plants, nuclear waste disposal, plastic factories and other heavy industries. Even spraying of pesticides and chemicals in agricultural fields are harming the quality of air. The harmful gases released in the environment are basically oxides of Carbon, Sulphur and Nitrogen and the chloro-fluoro carbon gases. These gases are making the air polluted, increasing the global warming and even depleting the ozone layer allowing the UV-rays to enter in the earth's atmosphere. These bad elements share hands with the other acts causing harm to our heritage. Making the matter worst the deforestation has crossed the limit of pollution. All these negative human behavior together are ruining the environment, basic life and also our very prestigious & precious world heritage sites.

The basic structure of these sites is getting weaker with the pace of time. Deep into their foundation the acids and the chemicals are penetrated which are shattering the skeleton of these whimsical creations leading to the breakdown of their both anatomy and morphology. Either the paints or the detailed intricate work are dropping down; or the luster and the lacquer on the stone are diminished or getting dull.

The chemicals merged with the air and falls on these monuments as the acid rain washing away the beauty of these great sites.

The natural glow or colors of the stones are getting black. The clear example is the Taj Mahal-it is made up of white stone called 'Sangemarmar'. Due to the presence of dense smog in the atmosphere the 'Taj Mahal' is literally turning in the black beauty.

People scrub on the wall of these beautiful structures. Couples write their names and love messages on the walls, throwing garbage and spitting the chewed beetle and through many other obscene attitudes ruin the crystal clear beauty of these monuments.

The scorching heat stops the tourists to visit these places. The intense global warming, deforestation and over pollution has increases the temperature to such an extent that people doesn't like to view these beauties with itching and sweating all through body.

The foreign tourists who enhance the value of these sites and propagate about their art and beauty are being exploited and used falsely by some bad Indian hosts. This cools down the enthusiasm of the foreigners to visit India and ultimately the economical degradation is the result. Fewer tourists, less economy and reduced revival of the monuments. If these heritages are not revived from time to time, then after few years they will permanently become the history.

The metro advancement acts as a dike. Dike prevents flood but here the metro stations construction and metro route construction are obstructing the stagnancy of these monuments. For instance the tall Qutab Minar getting distract due to the passing route of metro.

But it's never too late. Let's join our hands together and put our step forward for the revival mission of the Indian Gems- OUR MONUMENTS:

The books are not the only solution. As always said "action speaks louder than words", the students should be frequently taken on a trip to these very special monuments. With the proper guidance their knowledge about the ancient monuments should be enhanced. Quiz must be arranged on the basis of world heritage sites and other monuments. Prizes awarded to the winners will encourage the pupils to avail the thorough information of their heritage. The students should be explained the reasons for the protection and the revival of these sites.

The generation availing the fields like civil construction, paints, interior & exterior decoration and designing should be guided to promote their wide creative knowledge in the revival of monuments.

The former and the common style of reviving these world heritage sites and monuments is converting them totally or their particular part(s) in museum, library, tourist place or hotel. One famous example is 'Chauki Dhani' in Jaipur. By setting up museums or libraries in these prehistoric beauties, the visitors will get the interesting and the elaborate knowledge of these sites. By converting them in hotels or tourist places, the government will get the foreign revenue and the motive to rehabilitate these ancient creativities.

How To Read Your Spark Plug in a Two Stroke Engine

For a two-stroke engine, having a fresh spark plug is incredibly important. So you should check your plug often.





By "reading" the color of the plug you can tell a lot of things about how the engine is running. The top of a new spark plug is covered in white ceramic insulation. If your engine is running perfectly, then this part of the plug would soon become a tan color. If your plug is grey or white, than you know that your engine is running too lean and you need to take steps to prevent engine damage. First, clean your fuel system, looking for any blockage. Dirt in your carb can cause the bike to run lean. Check your fuel mixture to see if you are mixing the oil and fuel in the correct proportions (50 parts fuel to 1 part oil). There are many factors that can cause an oil and fuel mixture that worked great to become less than ideal. The brand of the gas and the oil as well as air density can affect how well the mixture works.

The lean condition can also be caused by fresh air entering the engine somewhere it shouldn't. So you should look for loose intake manifold bolts, leaks in the carburetor mounting, faulty gaskets and leaks in the crank seals. You may also need to change to a larger carburetor jet.


If your spark plug is black or oily than that means the engine is running too rich and is not properly combusting fuel. This problem can be caused by too much oil in the fuel and oil mixture and/or having a faulty spark plug that is misfiring. First, you should figure out if the spark plug is the problem. To do so, touch the electrode end of the plug to the engine while pulling the starter. If the sparks that result are blue, then you know you have a fully functioning plug. Install the plug and run the bike for a few minutes. Then stop the bike, remove the spark plug and look at it. If the plug is dark and oily, then you know that the problem is not your plug. You should check your oil and fuel mixture. If the bike's engine stumbles, sounds clogged up or doesn't run clear than you might want to get a smaller carburetor jet.

While you should regularly inspect your spark plug, it is essential to check your plug after any type of engine modification to make sure the engine isn't running too lean. For standard use, the NGK B7HS short thread plugs and B9ES long thread plugs are recommended. For use in competition, the NGK B7HS-10 short thread plugs and the NGK BR9EIX long thread plugs are recommended.

First check your coil for a healthy spark. Use a fresh plug and ground the electrode to the engine while pulling the starter - the spark should be a healthy blue. If so, install the fresh plug, and operate the bike normally for a few minutes, remove the new plug and "read" it. If it still appears blackened or oily, the problem lies elsewhere. A hotter plug in not recommended - make sure your fuel mix is correct, and consider a smaller jet only if the bike stumbles or sounds "full of snot" and doesn't run crisp. Operating your bike a little too rich won't hurt it - but too lean is never good. A little dirt in your carb could cause it to run lean, and you wouldn't even know why your bike was running so nice and crisp until it seized

Proper Use of "Shock Treatment" Ozone Generators Can Save You a Trip to the Doctor

We've all seen the headlines, "Ozone advisory. You are advised not to go outside, especially the old and young, due to high ozone smog levels". That's the headline, the sound bite that we remember. We've also heard ozone called a "toxic gas" by health professionals, seen it vilified in billboards asking us to "O-liminate Ozone" by filling up our cars at night instead of during hot summer days. Yet we've also heard that ozone is used to purify municipal water, treat cancer in many countries of the world, and get rid of smoke and mold damage when used by trained restoration contractors. So what gives? Is ozone smog, pollution, a toxic gas or is it a water and air cleaner?





The answer to that question is more complex than a simple "yes" or "no". Ozone, like oxygen, like water, like hydrogen or any other naturally occurring thing can be harmful or beneficial depending on how it is used. Many things that are "good" can kill us in excess. Water comes to mind. You've probably heard of people dying from drinking too much water too fast yet staying properly hydrated is essential for good health. Does that make water "toxic"? Their is a long list of "good" things that in excess can kill us, and ozone is one of them.

Everyone can agree that breathing high levels of ozone is detrimental to our health, especially our lungs. What about breathing low levels of ozone? Can injecting small amounts of ozone into the air actually promote good health? The answer is yes according to studies conducted at the Academy of Medical Sciences in Russia, Two doctors and researchers, Dr. Gubernskii and Dr. Dmitriev found that 0.005ppm (parts per million) to 0.02 ppm of ozone added to normal indoor air with no ozone increased animals' resistance to colds, infections, to toxic substances, and to oxygen deprivation. That's a good thing! I quote, "A general increase in the immune "biological potential" and the vital capacity of the lung function" was reported as to the reason why. Other doctors in Russia, where ozone is embraced and used with a high success rate by the medical establishment, also performed tests utilizing less than.01 ppm of ozone in an air-conditioned office building to see the effects on the inhabitants. The tests revealed that "the office dwellers levels of oxygen in the blood increase relatively quickly and remained at a higher levels for the duration of the experiment." Since cancers cannot survive oxygen rich environments in our body, increasing our bodies oxygen level is a very good thing. Russian doctors have also stated that: "Atmospheric ozone has a positive effect on animals and people. It is important to note its positive effect on the breathing system, blood composition, arterial pressure, immune system, general feeling of well-being, and mental and physical work capability. The ozone-ion complex is a necessary component of fresh air that gives it a curative effect." I guess these finding shouldn't surprise anyone since our bodies are made to handle oxygen quite efficiently, and the more oxygen we get, the better. This same study, featured in the Russian journal Priroda, also reported a vast decrease in complaints of stuffiness from the office occupants. (3.8 times fewer complaints). Yet another Russian study performed to see how adding small amounts of ozone to the air was at improving indoor air quality in schools reported that respiratory-related illnesses were drastically improved after the ozone systems were installed. The ozone concentration produced by the systems was a mere 0.015 ppm (parts per million).


Okay you're thinking, that's great! But how about some studies here at home that suggest low levels of ozone in the air promoted good health? Some publications have published studies showing the effectiveness of lower concentrations ozone (0.01 to 0.03 ppm) at removing odors and pollutants from our air tight structures. Some of these include the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES), U.S. Air Force technical publications, and Manufacturing Chemist. These studies however don't get national coverage, for somewhat obvious reason. We all know the power the International pharma drug and chemical cartels have over our elected officials, for better or for worse, such is the nature of our current system.

WHAT EXACTLY IS OZONE?

The short answer is three oxygen atoms that make up the o3 molecule known as ozone. In nature, ozone is created in our atmosphere up high to create an "ozone lawyer" to protects us from the harmful rays of the sun. In other words, even during the pre-man era there was ozone in the air from fires, and if by chance her dream came true, we'd all die because we can't stop naturally occurring forest fires and without ozone to break down the smoke, we'd all eventually die. Besides, if there was no pollution in the air, mother nature wouldn't come to the rescue and create ozone to clean up our mess! Let me put this another way. If there is a lot of pollution, there will be a lot of ozone. Ozone is a blue gas, smog from industry and buses, cars, trucks, etc is a black-brown nasty color. Why call poor little Ms Ozone, the hard working cleaner that she is "smog" and not call the nasty brown and black "smog" emitted by industry smog instead? I know, I know, that's a novel idea, but I'm sure that wouldn't sit well with the Board of Directors of the major industries that are polluting our air, industries that feature former Presidents of the United States on their board of directors. If instead of "ozone alters" we were told exactly which toxic byproduct of industry was filling our air, and from which source, do you think that would put pressure on those polluters to clean up their act? Sure it would! But that would cost a lot of money, and make things more expensive, and make us less competitive around the world and lord knows we are already running an unsustainable national trade deficit. So ostensibly the powers that be met a long long time ago and came up with a plan to vilify ozone in order to draw attention away from the actual pollution culprits in order to protect those vital industries from any public outrage. Not cool, but the people behind this misinformation do what they have to do to protect our big industries which after all are the backbone of our economy in the final analysis, for better or for worse.

HOW IS OZONE CREATED?

"Down low" near the earth, ozone is created when smog from industry, older buses, trucks, automobiles, etc reacts with the rays of the sun to "split" oxygen in the atmosphere. The free oxygen atom then adheres to other oxygen molecules to form the highly unstable molecule known as Ozone. The ozone will then quickly attack the man made pollution in earnest by sending the extra atom of oxygen off on a search and destroy the offensive toxic substances by breaking the chemical chains of the pollutant, thus breaking them down into smaller molecules that are non-toxic. Ozone is also be created by an electrical spark, such as by lightning, the suns rays, UV lamps in a certain wave length, and by high voltage ozone plates in ozone generators.

HOW IS OZONE USED IN INDUSTRY?

Ozone is currently being used in a number of industries with great success. As a water purifier, ozone is second to none. Unlike the very toxic and cancer causing cleaner Chlorine, which our government endorses wholeheartedly by the way, ozone breaks down toxic substances in the water and then reverting back to oxygen without creating any harmful byproducts. Chlorine reacts with organic substances, causing formation of chlororganic substances (e.g. chloroform, chlorphenols, dioxins). Chloroform has long been known to be a potential cancer causative agent in animal experimentation.

Extensive epidemiological studies on human populations were able to confirm the existence of a similar causative link in humans. A study done in Iowa, USA, involving 28,000 women showed a clear correlation between cancer incidence and water chlorination." (1)

This is just one of many studies that tie chlorine in water to cancer. To make matters worse, when we clean our fruits in veggies in chlorinated water, we create cancer causing by-products:

Recently, a joint study was undertaken in Japan by research scientists at the National Institute of Health Sciences and Shizuoka Prefectural University. They determined that natural organic substances originating from foods, including fruits, soy, and green or black tea, react when tap water is chlorinated, forming dangerous cancer causing compounds. These deadly compounds have been named MX, which stands for "unknown mutagen", and are similar to the already well-known and more easily detected cancer causing THMs (trihalomethanes).

Recent studies by http://www.ewg.org, the Environmental Working Group found that nations municipal water supplies are overwrought with pharmaceutical drugs and other harmful chemicals. Well, the water districts that use Chlorine anyway to disinfect their water supplies. However, the water districts which employ ozone to disinfect the water were given a clean bill of health; no pharma drugs there!

"In a German study7, granular activated carbon (GAC) and ozonation used in a lab and in a water treatment plant, often in series, were very effective at removing carbamazepine, diclofenac and bezafibrate. The lab also showed that 3.0 milligrams per liter (mg/L) of ozone cut primidone levels by nearly 90 percent. Although neither GAC nor ozonation at any concentration was fully successful with clofibric acid separately, the two in combination cut levels of the drug to below the limits of detection during plant testing.

Shane Snyder, research and development project manager for the Southern Nevada Water Authority, testified in mid-April to a US Senate subcommittee about the pharmaceuticals issue on behalf of the American Water Works Association (AWWA), the water utility trade group. In an interview with Water Technology®, he said the powdered form of activated carbon can be even more effective if used properly.

He said ozone's effectiveness is tied to its ability to chemically attack the pharmaceutical molecules. For example, it can oxidize different kinds of functional aromatic bonds (forces binding certain carbon-based atomic structures within molecules) in pharmaceuticals.

In the German study, Ternes states that his research has shown ozone capable of easily oxidizing 90 percent of 51 different pharmaceuticals. It is particularly effective with compounds with amine groups and phenolic hydroxyl groups."

Most people don't know that tap water contains recycled urine from the toilet, that the pharma drugs people pee out end up in the tap water they drink (unless their water is ozonated), nor that they get the phama drugs plus cancer causing agents if their water district uses Chlorine to sanitize their recycled toilet water, aka tap water. Too bad some ex-Presidents of the USA sit on the Board of Directors of several big chemical companies that make Chlorine, and the pharma drugs in question.

What other industries, besides waste water management use ozone? Ozone is also used in the laundry industry to clean clothes without the use of harsh chemicals. It's well beyond a foregone conclusion that water ozonation is beneficial on many different levels. We've also reviewed a few studies that suggest low levels of ozone in ambient air promotes good health. How can you use ozone safely and effectively to promote good health in your home? Here are a few suggestions:

1) Buy a "shock treatment" commercial ozone generator and perform regular "shock treatments" when nobody is home (adhere to all operational instructions) to disinfect your home and nip any potential problems (mold, surface viruses, etc) in the bud.

2) Buy a "repeat cycle timer" and place your ozone generator near the air return. Run your HVAC system in the "ON" position 24/7 and use a quality MERV 11 furnace filter (change monthly) to remove airborne dust and dander from your indoor air. Have the repeat cycle timer turn on for 5-6 seconds ever 4-5 minutes. Buy an ozone monitor to make sure the ozone level does not rise above.025 ppm, a low and conservative number that has been shown in many tests to promote good health. (EPA exposure limit is.10 ppm)

You'll immediately notice your air smells fresher and cleaner, similar to the air after a thunderstorm. Thunder creates ozone by splitting oxygen in the air in the same way an ozone generator splits oxygen, with electricity. A side bonus, you'll notice flying insects head for the hills or die, and turn right around when the chance presents itself to come inside your home. (They HATE even the lightest scent of ozone!) You'll notice your kids get sick less often, you everyone sleeps better at night. Most importantly, you'll notice the general health of everyone in your family improves over time when you provide low levels of ozone with lower dust levels due to running your HVAC fan 24/7. Of course when you try and tell your doctor this is because you're running an ozone generator to create low levels of ozone in your home, he or she will most likely tell you you're nuts and that ozone is a toxic gas. But you'll know better.

Most people don't know that tap water contains recycled urine from the toilet, that the pharma drugs people pee out end up in the tap water they drink (unless their water is ozonated), nor that they get the phama drugs plus cancer causing agents if their water district uses Chlorine to sanitize their recycled toilet water, aka tap water. Buy an ozone monitor to make sure the ozone level does not rise above.025 ppm, a low and conservative number that has been shown in many tests to promote good health. (EPA exposure limit is.10 ppm)

You'll immediately notice your air smells fresher and cleaner, similar to the air after a thunderstorm. Thunder creates ozone by splitting oxygen in the air in the same way an ozone generator splits oxygen, with electricity. A side bonus, you'll notice flying insects head for the hills or die, and turn right around when the chance presents itself to come inside your home. (They HATE even the lightest scent of ozone!) You'll notice your kids get sick less often, you everyone sleeps better at night. Most importantly, you'll notice the general health of everyone in your family improves over time when you provide low levels of ozone with lower dust levels due to running your HVAC fan 24/7. Of course when you try and tell your doctor this is because you're running an ozone generator to create low levels of ozone in your home, he or she will most likely tell you you're nuts and that ozone is a toxic gas. But you'll know better.

Are Thumpstar Pit Bikes Reliable?

There was a time when the only small sized motorcycles also now known as pit bikes were made by Japanese companies such as Honda and Kawasaki. In the past few years these pit bikes have become more and more popular, which has created quite a demand for them. Well now the Chinese manufacturers and others are stepping in to fill the void. So called knock off bikes such as Thumpstar pit bikes and Sikk pit bikes are built with Chinese engines and frames. The big question is can these bikes stand up to the old faithful Honda and Kawasaki models?





Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, and Suzuki have been the staple when it comes to dirt bikes for years, and rightfully so. These motorcycles are very competent and reliable. Recently a host of Chinese made motorcycles have entered the scene in the form of mini bikes or pit bikes. Why would people buy a motorcycle from China when they can't be sure on the reliability? The reason is simple, they are much cheaper than their Japanese counterparts.

You can buy a completely tricked out Thumpstar pit bike for around 00 brand new. When it comes to the new CRF100 tricked out by BBR you are looking at around 00. This is quite a difference in price. There are many other brand names of so called knock off pit bikes such as Pittster, Sikk, Thunder Pro, and the list goes on and on. All of them are priced similarly and the quality is about the same depending on who you ask. I currently own 2 Thumpstar pit bikes, and I know some people who have the other so called knock off brands such as Sikk so I can speak personally on the quality of these motorcycles.


Are they as good as a Honda or Kawasaki? The simple answer is no. These bikes still have quite a way to go to stand up to the quality and performance of the Japanese brands when they are all tricked out. There is only one problem. When you buy a Honda 50cc, it comes bone stock. You need to upgrade everything from suspension, exhaust, tune the motor and this will add up to thousands of dollars. Well I don't know about you, but I am not spending 00 on a tiny pit bike. This is the reason why bikes made with Chinese parts such as Thumpstar pit bikes have become so popular. They come stock with a nice race exhaust, the suspension is better than stock Honda, some even now come standard with Japanese Mikuni carburetor. I personally think most of the knock off bikes look much nicer than the Honda or Kawasaki as well. As time has gone by these motorcycles have become better and better.

Isn't it impossible to find parts for pit bikes with Chinese parts? Surprisingly not. There are many suppliers now supporting these motorcycles, and with the internet it has become easier to find parts for nearly anything. There are many places to find aftermarket parts and upgrades for Thumpstar pit bikes and many others.

So how have my 2 Thumpstar pit bikes stood up to the punishment of a hard riding season? Well I have to say that they have been just great. The engine was a pleasant surprise delivering smooth power through all 4 gears. The suspension although quite stiff was still better than stock so I was happy with that. The frames have been durable, and overall the bikes have been very reliable. The only problems I can say I had were that the chain dug the swingarm in the back of one of my Thumpstars, some bolts rattled off, I replaced the levers, and some plastic cosmetic damage. The engines run a little hot so I am currently looking into getting oil coolers for my Thumpstar pit bikes, I have seen a number of them for sale online.

If you are currently in the market for a pit bike it is up to you. Do you want to pay 00 for the very best or would you rather pay around 00 for a comparable motorcycle? It was a no-brainer for me. I'm sure the shelf life for my Thumpstar pit bike is less than a Honda, but who cares I'll just get another one in a few years and still have spent less money!

Types of Scooters

The scooter is one of the biggest innovations in self propelled transportation. It is easy to use, and come in a wide range of models. Scooters can be categorized on the basis of the wheel model, operations mode and function. The skateboard scooter is one the distinguished scooters in the market. This scooter is a culmination of a four wheeled skateboard and a scooter. Skateboard scooters come with a fixed handlebar, and are steered just like standard skateboards. Unlike other scooters, skateboard scooters have smaller wheels, and are typically slower. The skateboard scooter is suitable for trick riding. Another type of scooter used for trick riding is the freestyle scooter. The most attractive feature of the freestyle scooter is the kick tail, a part of the deck extending upward over the back wheel.

The three wheel folding scooter is another prominent type of scooter. As the name implies, this is a three wheeled scooter that can be folded after use. It has one wheel in front and two wheels at the back, and the wheels are 100mm in-line skate style. Three wheel folding scooters are a combination of the folding scooter and the skateboard scooter. Thus, they include some of the features of both.

Unlike other types of scooters, gas powered motorized scooters and electric powered motorized scooters are more powerful and easy to drive. Because of these features, these two types of scooters are widely used for on and off road long distance and short distance drives. But, gas powered motorized scooters are not permitted in some areas. So, it is always recommended to check the rules and regulations before purchase.
